The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council CALABARZON, led by its Chairperson and Office of Civil Defense CALABARZON Officer-in-Charge Mr. Reyan Derrick Marquez, in collaboration with Mayor Lyndon Bruce of Laurel, successfully conducted the 2023 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) in the Municipality of Laurel, Batangas as the Regional Ceremonial Venue.

The NSED conducted in Laurel, Batangas highlighted the earthquake response protocols and increased awareness of earthquake preparedness. Participants learned safety measures and evacuation routes, fostering a coordinated response during earthquakes. The drill enhanced coordination among various organizations involved in the emergency response and encouraged collaboration within the council. By reflecting on the drill's insights, Laurel, Batangas could recalibrate disaster preparedness plans and implement policies to further improve preparedness measures. Overall, the drill aimed to promote preparedness, strengthen coordination, and build resilience in the face of earthquakes and other natural disasters.

The 2nd Quarter NSED was participated by representatives from DSWD, DOH, DILG, PIA, BFP, PRC, Batangas Provincial DRRM Council, members of the Local DRRM Council of Laurel, and other stakeholders.
